The Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie 2020 was officially opened on February 28 at the Kunsthalle Mannheim with about 800 visitors. Curator David Campany and the approximately 30 artists present gave interesting insights into the presented works during the tours through all six exhibitions on the opening weekend.

Due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus in Germany, the cities of Ludwigshafen, Mannheim and Heidelberg had decided in mid-March to temporarily close all cultural institutions to reduce the risk of infection for visitors. The aim of these far-reaching precautionary measures is to contain the spread of the virus by early and consistent interruption of possible chains of infection.

All six exhibitions of the Biennale can be visited → here in digital form.
